Northern Lights Chamber Music Institute

Spend 8 days in the Boundary Waters

You are invited to participate in 8 fun-filled days of music making in a warm, nurturing, and encouraging environment and to experience exciting outdoor activities in the pristine Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota. Come prepared to work hard and to enjoy hiking, canoeing, sailing and other outdoor activities during your free time. (Don't forget your swimming suit!)

Study & perform with internationally renowned musicians

Join violinists Ariana Kim and Young-Nam Kim, violist Sally Chisholm and cellist Leonardo Altino as they lead you through eight days of intense chamber music study.  Between coached rehearsals and master classes, you will have many opportunities for one-on-one conversations. A camp fire at night, the Northern Lights in the sky, and the sound of loons on the lake will lull you to sleep each night after a day packed with musical adventures and outdoor fun. At the end of the week, you will enjoy the rare opportunity of performing with your faculty, fellow students, and community musicians at three distinctive public concerts.

Enjoy the hospitality of Camp du Nord

Become part of the warm community of families and artists at Camp du Nord. Located on beautiful Burntside Lake in Ely, Camp du Nord is part of the YMCA of Greater St. Paul and is comprised of three villages (du Nord, Northland, and Pine Pointe). You will stay in new, sunny, and spacious cabins with full kitchens in Pine Pointe Village.
